Michael Barnhart Senior Counsel

Michael Barnhart is an experienced professional who has counseled clients for 20 years emphasizing business, intellectual property, and regulatory matters.  Michael excels at simplifying and presenting complex technical arguments and applying them in a novel fashion.  He has used this expertise to successfully resolve matters in the oil and gas, real estate, industrial manufacturing, and medical industries. 

In addition to his litigation experience, Michael has served as in-house counsel in the oil and gas service sector, developing operational and procurement focused risk management strategies and serving as Intellectual Property Counsel.  Through these efforts, Michael cultivated an understanding of his clients’ business practices and those of their customers and vendors.  Michael also drafted and prosecuted to issuance a number of patents for his clients.

Michael is Licensed to Practice in Texas, is a Registered Patent Attorney, and is admitted to Practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of Texas.   Michael is a native Texan, growing up in Brazoria County, and is a published Biochemist and Molecular Virologist.   Michael received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Chemistry from Texas A&M in 1990, a Master of Science in Molecular Virology from Baylor College of Medicine in 1999 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center in 2003.
