We represented a major political party in breach of contract litigation against Houston First Corporation following the cancellation of the June 2020 convention due to COVID-19 concerns. The core issue in the dispute was the interpretation of the force majeure clause. Although the trial court initially ruled against our client before we became involved, we secured a unanimous decision in favor of the Republican Party on appeal. The case has now returned to the trial court and is headed to trial, with the Republican Party of Texas positioned to seek substantial damages.
